I was recently elected a Fellow of the oldest independent Masonic research society in North America: the Philalethes Society. According to the society bylaws, the number of living fellows “is limited to 40, like the French Academy,” and Fellowships are awarded for life.
Founded in 1928 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the name Philalethes means “lover of truth.”
Previous Fellows include novelist and poet Rudyard Kipling, Normal Vincent Peale and A.E. Waite.
