My forthcoming book, The Three Stages of Initiatic Spirituality Craftsman, Warrior, Magician, will be released in February 2020.
The book, which will be published by Inner Traditions, explores the myths, symbolism, and history of the craftsman, warrior, and magician. And it is, in a sense, structured as a kind of literary initiation, with each of the three sections exploring myth, philosophy, etc. of one of the archetypes, and concluding with a chapter exploring specific techniques of meditation and self-development appropriate to that archetype (although techniques are mentioned throughout the book).
As you might suspect, Freemasonry plays a role in the Craftsman section of the book, along with alchemy, Kabbalah, and ancient Greek thought.
The Warrior section explores the martial arts, Chi (subtle energy), the creation of a body of Chi (especially in relation to Taoist inner alchemy), and at the symbolism of the warrior in mysticism and religion.
In the Magician section of the book, I explore Tantra and sex magic, Jungian psychology, the idea of the Ages (or Yugas in Hinduism), and look at modern Western magic and mind metaphysics.
This work represents something of a break from my other books, which have been essentially historical in nature. In The Three Stages of Initiatic Spirituality Craftsman, Warrior, Magician I am concerned not only with what we find historically, across the globe, but what that means for us today and how we can live a more authentic life in accord with the archetypal patterns of life that we find in the world’s ancient and classical cultures.
