I have been working on a new title over the last year and I am happy to announce that it is now in the pre-editorial stage with the US-based publisher. The book is scheduled for release in late 2019, and will explore myths, symbolism, rituals, and spiritual practices from across the globe, from alchemy, Kabbalah, and Freemasonry to martial arts, Western esotericism, and the modern positive thinking movement.
While I have previously focused on the history of spirituality, in this book I look at the subject more from the perspective of a practitioner. And while there is plenty of history throughout the work, I am more concerned with how spiritual movements and related practitioners have viewed humanity and how they believed we might reorientate our lives toward what is meaningful. As such, the work is very three-dimensional, taking into consideration the mind, body, and spirit and looking at such practices as Taoist inner alchemy, the development of inner energy (Chi, Prana, Kundalini, etc.), sexual mysticism, Jungian psychology, martial arts, and “positive thinking” or mind metaphysics.
I will be giving away more details as the release date approaches, but I can say now that this book represents a turning point from the purely scholarly to my more recent writings in which I have given advice and guidance on various aspects of self-development (mostly published as articles at Phanesx.com).
